Sides: BUSHCRAFT Cast Iron Green Bean Casserole


  • -1 stick of butter

  • -8 oz of your favorite mushrooms (diced)
  • -1 Onion (Diced)
  • -1 Bulb of Garlic (I roast mine and make it into a paste, but minced is fine)
  • -2 Tablespoons of Flour
  • -1 Cup of Chicken Broth
  • -1 Cup of Heavy Cream
  • -8 OZ Monterey Jack Cheese (Shredded)
  • -2 Tablespoons of Bushcraft Seasoning
  • -2 Pounds of Green Beans (De-Stemmed and Quartered)
  • -1 pound of Bacon
  • -6 shallots (Thinly Sliced)
  • -2 more Tablespoons of All purpose Flour


    • -Melt the Stick of butter in a Cast Iron Pan

    • -Add the Mushrooms and onion into the pan and cook until tender. 
    • -add garlic and cook for 2 minutes
    • -add flour and cook for two minutes while stirring
    • -add in chicken broth, heavy cream, and Monterey Jack Cheese and stir in Bushcraft Seasoning. Turn the heat down as low as it goes, stirring occasionally
    • -Salt a pot of boiling water and add in the green beans. Boil for 5 minutes and strain them and add them to a boil of ice to stop the cooking
    • -Toss the Green Beans into the Cream of Mushroom Mixture and combine
    • -Cook Bacon in a separate pan and remove with a slotted spoon.
    • -Dust the Sliced shallots with flour and add them to the Bacon grease and cook until golden brown.
    • -Top the green beans with the bacon and shallots
    • -Bake at 350 for 25 minutes
