Tacticalories Powered Low Carb, High Fat Pizza

Tacticalories Powered Low Carb, High Fat Pizza

There are few things closer to my heart than a good slice of pizza. Well, as you probably know, pizza isn't exactly suited for a low-carb diet. I set out to find an acceptable replacement for our doughy friend and stumbled upon the outline of this recipe. I'm glad I did. This turned out WAY better than I thought it was going to. Immediately, I was thinking of how to use the crust in other ways. Give it a shot. Know that the calories are high (probably not as high as a thick regular pizza), fat is high, but as long as you're following a high-fat diet, you should be just fine.

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¾ cup almond flour
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon white wine vinegar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Carving House blend seasoning
  • Olive oil to grease your hands

Topping

  • 8 oz. ground beef, seasoned with Carving House blend seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • ½ cup unsweetened tomato sauce
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Heat mozzarella and cream cheese in a small, non-stick pan over medium heat or in a bowl in the microwave oven. Do not overheat. I personally did this in 2, 30-second sessions. After the second session, I mixed well and it was ready.
  3. Stir until they melt together. Add the other crust ingredients and mix well.
  4. Moisten your hands with olive oil and flatten the dough on parchment paper, making a circle about 8 inches (20 cm) in diameter. You can also use a rolling pin to flatten the dough between two sheets of parchment paper.

  5. Remove top parchment sheet (if used). Prick the crust with a fork (all over) and bake in the oven for 10–12 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven.
  6. While the crust is baking, sauté the ground beef in olive oil or butter and top with Carving House seasoning.
  7. Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce on the crust. Top pizza with meat and plenty of cheese. Bake for 10–15 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
  8. Sprinkle Carving House seasoning on top and serve with a green salad.
